On December 16, 2016, the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare issued a G / SPS / N / JPN / 483 notification to amend the Food Additives Standard(including disodium succinate standard) under the Food Sanitation Law, in accordance with Article 10 of the Food Sanitation Law. The revision of the notification mainly includes: 1, major amendments to the specifications of heavy metals; 2, to develop 89 kinds of existing food additives specifications; 3, from the point of view to ensure safety standards for the development of talc and enzymes; 4, modified Appendix 3 77 kinds of designated food additives (77 kinds of specifications) specifications; 5, revision of food additives in food use standards.

Outline of modification:
1. Modify testing methods in the individual monographs based on the revision of methods specified in the section, "General Tests. "
2. Add the scientific name to the additive name.
3. Revise the atomic weights, and align wordings and legends.
4. Change the category of the Purity tests.
 Some test items, such as "Melting point," "pH," and "Specific rotation," will not be included in the title "Purity."
5. Change the names of reagents to those specified by the Japan Industrial Standard (JIS).
